Case Study: Sweeper for a Kubota G23/G26 Series and BX Series
The Gubota G23/G26 and BX Series tractors are very popular models, but do not have the oil necessary to run a sweeper effectively. We have a solution.
Kubota G23/G26 Series and BX Series with Kersten sweeper
The customer for this sweeper is required to use the tractor for general sweeping and maintenance all year round and grass cutting in the summer.
The tractor needed to run a mid mowing deck, whilst enabling a sweeper to be connected on the front, which required hydraulics, but the flow and oil volume on these Kubota models is not sufficient to run a sweeper.
The Front linkage we supplied comes with it's own separate oil reservoir and pump run off the tractor engine. This allows hydraulic drive and interchangeability between attachments, simply by pulling a pin and changing one attachment for the other.
The Kersten KM45 front sweepers may be powered by either PTO or hydraulic drive. Both solutions are available on the Kubota BX series but there are pros and cons of each. In this case we chose to use our front linkage with hydraulic drive, as it avoids the need to remove the mowing deck.
This sweeper was fitted with a collector box and gully brush. The 5 row spiral brush has plenty of space between the rows to allow movement of voluminous material like snow and requires less power than other brushes to do so. The brush can be manually angled from left to right in this case. There is an option to fit hydraulic angling, which can be operated from the cab.
The items used in this project were as follows:
- KM 13045 H Front mounted sweeper
- ABR brackets to fit front sweeper to the Cat 0 front linkage
- SSB 13045 K collector box
- ASH 4045 M Gully Brush
- FKBH - Front Linkage for Kubota G23/26
The KM 45 series of sweepers are supplied with garage stands to enable the machine to be wheeled around when not connected to the tractor.
Mounting a sweeper on the front of a tractor provides far greater manoeuvrability than mounting on the rear 3 point linkage and prevents driving over the material to be swept first, which could compact it under the tyres - making it harder to sweep..
However a rear mounted alternative for the Kubota BX series could be the HKM 12540 M
Kersten sweepers are great at maintaining hard surfaces by removing detritus and debris which reduces weed growth and is fundamental to Integrated weed management.
